Given the function

g(x)=-x-3x

You have to calculate the function for x= -1 → to do so simply replace the formula with the value of x:

g(-1)=-(-1)-3(-1)

As you can see, there are two minus sings together, this situation is called double negative, when it happens, the two minus sign "cancel" each other and the result of the operation is negative:

\begin{gathered} g(-1)=1+3 \\ g(-1)=4 \end{gathered}
