Answer:

( -5 , 23) .

Explanation:

Given : y = –3x + 8 and y = –5x – 2.

To find : What is the solution of the system of equations.

Solution : We have given

y = –3x + 8 -------(1)

y = –5x – 2 -------(2)

On plug equation 2 in equation 1.

-5x -2 = -3x + 8

Combining like terms

-5x + 3x = 8 +2 .

-2x = 10

On dividing both sides by - 2

x = -5.

Then , plug x = -5 in equation 1.

y = - 3(-5) +8.

y = 15 + 8

y = 23.

( -5 , 23) .

Therefore, ( -5 , 23) .
