The flight-or fight response or acute stress response is defined as a physiological response of body, which occurs in response to a recognized harmful event, such as threat to survival or attack. The medulla oblongata plays an important role to initiate the physiological actions that takes place during fight-or-flight response.
At first, medulla oblongata activates the sympathetic nervous system that release nor-epinephrine hormone that initiates flight-or fight response.
Then, medulla oblongata activates the parasympathetic nervous system that helps in return the body to back or homeostasis after the flight or fight response.
