1/2 x +(-7)- 2 1/4 x -(-2)
Turn the 2 1/4 into a mixed number:
1/2x + (-7) - 9/4x + 2
Multiply 1/2x by 2/2:
2/4x + (-7) - 9/4x +2
Add common terms:
-7/4x - 5
Turn -7/4x into a mixed number:
-1 3/4x -5

So your answer is
A.) -1 3/4x - 5
