Volcanic eruptions can be very dangerous for nearby human and animal populations. One danger is that lava and ash may bury habitats. What is another danger during a volcanic eruption?

Sulfur Dioxide is a toxic gas, that can quickly kill a person. This gas highlights another dangerous element of volcanic eruptions, which are the toxic and usually superbly heated gases (can cause burns), that are not only capable of suffocating people unlucky enough to be caught by them, but also poison them.

Additionally some volcanoes can erupt with explosive forces, acting as a gigantic bomb in some cases.
