At 4:00 am, the outside temperature was -14 degrees Fahrenheit. By 4 pm, the temperature had risen 38 degrees Fahrenheit. What was the temperature at 4 pm?
We are dealing with negative numbers, so, we need to be very careful while dealing with the opposite operation signs.
Lets form this into statements ---
Temperature at 4:00 AM = -14 degrees Fahrenheit.
Temperature risen at 4 PM = 38 degrees Fahrenheit
Temperature at 4 PM = -14 + 38 = 24 degrees Fahrenheit.
The temperature at 4 PM was 24 degrees Fahrenheit.
