A taxi cab company charges a set fee of 2.10, plus .80 per mile.
y = .8x + 2.1
We will plug in 11.70 for y and solve from there.
11.7 = .8x + 2.1
We will subtract 2.1 from both sides.
9.6 = .8x
12 = x
Carmen traveled 12 miles in the taxi.
