On his first day of school, Kareem found the high temperature in degrees Fahrenheit to be 76.1°. He plans to use the function to convert this temperature from degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius. What does C(76.1) represent?

the temperature of 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit converted to degrees Celsius
the temperature of 76.1 degrees Celsius converted to degrees Fahrenheit
the amount of time it takes a temperature of 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit to be converted to 32 degrees Celsius
the amount of time it takes a temperature of 76.1 degrees Celsius to be converted to 32 degrees Fahrenheit

Answer: C(76.1) represents the temperature of 76.1 degrees Fahrenheit converted to degrees Celsius

Explanation:

Since, here let at first Kareem found the high temperature in degree Fahrenheit to be x°

And, If he wants to change the temperature from degree Fahrenheit to degree Celsius.

Then he can use the formula
(5)/(9) (x-32)

So, we can form a function
C(x)=(5)/(9) (x-32)

Where, C(x) is the degree Celsius for the x degree Fahrenheit.

If x=76.1° then
C(76.1)=(5)/(9)(76.1-32)=24.5 degree Celsius

thus, C(76.1) represents the converted temperature in degree Celsius for the temperature of 76.1° Fahrenheit.

Therefore, Only Option (1) is correct.

The correct option is THE TEMPERATURE OF 76.1 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT CONVERTED TO DEGREE CELSIUS.
The symbol C stands for degree Celsius and is always attached to every temperature measurement that is done using the Celsius measure.
