5/8 + 2/5 = (5 x 5 + 2 x 8)/(8 x 5)
= (25 + 16)/40
= 41/40
= 1 1/40

5/8 + 2/5....common denominator is 40
25/40 + 16/40 =
41/40 or 1 1/40 <==
