The question asked about the approximately so the answre I get also not sure, I did a quick search and came up with 4% and 20%. I would lean more towards 10-15%. There are alot of support jobs in the military. I was in Iraq and when I was there the troop level was about 140,000 and if I recall, I heard that about 40k of them were combat troops.
