\sin\theta<0\text{ and }\cos\theta<0

The cosine function correlates with values of x, and the sine function correlates with values of y. The quadrant that has both negative values of x and y is QUADRANT III

Part B:


\cos\theta<0\text{ and }\tan\theta>0

The quadrant for which the cosine function is negative is in quadrant III, and quadrant IV. The quadrant for which the tangent function is positive is in quadrant I, and quadrant III.

Therefore, the quadrant that has a negative cosine function, and a positive tangent function is QUADRANT III.
