Both cases dealt with showing how much power which branch has. In the Boerne v Flores it showed that the Congress had no power to bother Flores. The power that the Congress wanted to enforce was unconstitutional, just like in Marbury v Madison where the congress wanted to make Madison turn in documents using the court, but the court said that they didn't have the powers nor could they make him give the documents.
