A. A = (20 − 4) × (11 − 2)
B. A = (20 − 2) × (11 − 4)

Answer:

B. A = (20 − 2) × (11 − 4)

Explanation:

Let's notice that vegetable-only region has the shape of a rectangle and the formula of the area of a rectangle is A = W*L, where L is the length and W the width.

We just need to find out the values of the length and the width.

The length of the big rectangle is 20ft but the smaller one is reduced in 2ft, so the length of the shaded region is 20 - 2 = L

The same happens to the width, is reduced in 4ft from 11ft. The width of the shaded region is 11 - 4 = W

With this information, the area of the vegetable-only region is

A = W*L = (11-4)*(20-2)
