What is k+1=3k+(-1)-example-1

well first you have to distribute the positive to the -1 doing nothing but now it is k+1=3k-1 i would subtract 1 making it k=3k-2 you can then subtract 3k making it -2k =2, then you divide by -2 giving you -1.
