-Erik is building a cubby bookshelf, that is, a book shelf divided into storage holes (cubbies) instead ofshelves. He wants the height of the bookshelf to be x2 - 6x – 7 and the width to be.x2 + 3x + 2. Eachcubby hole in the bookshelf will have a height of x + 2 and width of x - 7.Step 1 of 3: Write a rational expression to determine how many cubbies high the book shelf will be.

Given height and width of bookshelf is

x^2-6x-7

and

x^2+3x+2

respectively.

So we can write height of bookshelf as:

x^2-6x-7=(x+1)(x-7)

and width =

x^2+3x+2=(x+1)(x+2)

Now, height of cubbies is x+2 and width is x-7.

So, if we have n cubbies, height of each cubbies would be

=(x+2)/(n)

This is the required answer.
