[Answer: B] Only solids can create regular geometric patterns (crystal structures). NaCl doesn't count in this case because it's dissolved and are in the form of ions.

Answer:

Iodine solid.

Step-by-step explanation:

a) HCl (l) : it is a liquid so it cannot have a regular geometric pattern.

b) I₂(s) : It is a solid so it can have a regular geometric pattern in it, the molecules will be closely spaced with no translation motion. It will have a fix volume and fix shape.

c) N₂(g) : It is a gas, so molecules will move freely and will have high thermal energy. There will be no fixed shape or pattern of arrangement.

d) NaCl(aq): NaCl solid have a fixed shape and regular geometric pattern, however when it is dissolved in water to form aqueous solution, the ions move freely.
