How do you simplify the expression 7 - 2(2 + 5) -8?

Please show your work, thanks in advance!

7-2(2+5)-8
7-2(7)-8
5(7)-8
When there is a bracket it means, you are supposed to multiply the number in front of it with the number in the bracket. So....
5 x 7 -8= 35-8
= 27

Thus the answer is 27
