What actions did the Pilgrims take to survive the struggles they faced?

I believe the action the Pilgrims did to be able to survive the struggles they faced is hope. The Pilgrims (in my opinion) had to be hopeful about what they were doing. Hoping that it was right to get away and try to start over. Example, if the crops weren't working out, they had to be hopeful and try to see or do something about the crop.
