The equation we can generate from this is:

P = 0.35 x

where P is profit, and x is the number of cards made

A. when P = 42

42 = 0.35 x

x = 42 / 0.35

x = 120 cards

Therefore Jacqui sold 120 cards that week

B. To find for the total earning before expenses:

total earning = $42 + $0.75 * 120

total earning = $132

To find the answer for how many cards were sold take the amount per card that she made a profit on which is $.35 multiply that by the amount she profited in one week which is $42. $.35 x $42 equals 120 cards sold. Now that we know how many cards she sold, take that number (120 cards) and multiply is by the amount each card was sold for ($.75). 120 x $.75, which equals $90 all together before paying expenses.
