Actually Maddie1261, it can be converted into an improper fraction and/or mixed number.

Steps:

  1. Set the decimal to "x". x
x=.161616 (It makes it much easier to leave the 2 out for now.)
  2. Multiply the whole equation by the place value.
(100)x=.161616(100) (I multiplied it by 100 because the first 6 is in the hundredths.
  3. Simplify.
    100x=16.161616
  4. Subtract equations.
    100x-x=99x &
    16.161616-.161616=16
  5. Solve.
    (99x)/(99)=(16)/(99) (The
    (99x)/(99) crosses out, because
    99x-99=1x=x.)

  6. x=16/99

Since you now have the fraction form of .161616, you can add the 2. So, the improper fraction form of 2.161616 is
(214)/(99)
, and the mixed number form is
2(16)/(99)
.
