Hello,

I believe it is 38 meters/minute, or 0.633 meters/second.
Hope this helps!

Answer:

38 m/min (Diving)

Explanation:

First, let's establish a reference system on which the surface of the sea is the 0 value, with positive values above it, and negative values below it.

So we see that the position of the submarine at initial time (t₀ = 0 min) is -29m, and that the position after 6 minutes (t₆ = 6 min) is -257m.

Now, we know that Velocity is given by:

V = Δy/Δt;

This is:

V = (y₆ - y₀)/(t₆-t₀)

Replacing, we get

V = (-257-(-29))/(6-0);

V = (-257+29)/6;

V = -38m/min (The negative sign indicates that the submarine is diving)

We know that the speed is the absolute value of the speed, so

|V| = 38m/min
