Psychology is a scientific term means the study of the human mind which is in-depth understanding of the mind and how it affects society. On how people think the human mind reacts for example a person is sad the human mind is sad-which is emotional sadness and distress; and that sadness affects the human physically- failing a test or low performance at school and believe it or not it affects society too. If someone is down or is emotionally in distress- teachers will feel sad for that person and would call their parents to take that person home because they (the teachers) feel sorry for that person. Therefore, it is important for the mind to stay in shape- to be happy, and not sad. A Psychologists job is to help a person mind feel happy and well. If a person is feeling down, a psychologist job is to ask questions on what led that person to feel this way the main reasons could be (family loss, bankruptcy, unwilling crime etc) and the person will be required to follow steps in order to have a positive mind.. hope this helps :)
