An experienced computer technician can set up a network in 12 hours. It would take an intern 20 hours to set up the same network. If they work together, how long will it take to set up the network? If the experienced technician and intern work together, then we assume that the they work is the same.

Answer:

Working together they will complete the work on 7.5 hours.

Explanation:

It is given computer technician can set up a network in 12 hours.

He will complete
(1)/(12) part of the work in 1 hour.

The Intern takes 20 hours to set up the same network.

The Intern will complete
(1)/(20) part of the work in 1 hour.

If they work together part of work completed in 1 hour =

(1)/(12) +(1)/(20)

The LCM of denominator is 60.Making denominator same and adding the fractions we have:

(1)/(12)+(1)/(20)  =(5+3)/(60) =(8)/(60) =(2)/(15)

Together working they will complete the work in 1 ÷
(2)/(15) =(15)/(2) =7.5 hours.
