Answer : The amount of drug X given per day should be 120.2 mg.

The amount of drug X given per dose should be 60.1 mg.

Explanation :

First we have to convert the weight of patient from lb to kg.

Conversion used :

1kg=2.205lb

or,

1lb=(1)/(2.205)kg

As,
1lb=(1)/(2.205)kg

So,
53lb=(53)/(2.205)kg=24.04kg

The weight of patient is, 24.04 kg.

Now we have to determine the amount of drug X should be given per day.

As, 1 kg weight of patient contains 5.0 mg of drug X per day

So, 24.04 kg weight of patient contains 24.04 × 5.0 = 120.2 mg of drug X per day

The amount of drug X given per day should be 120.2 mg.

Now we have to determine the amount of drug X should be given per dose.

In 2 doses, the patient contains 120.2 mg of drug X

In 1 dose, the patient contains
(120.2)/(2)=60.1mg of drug X

The amount of drug X given per dose should be 60.1 mg.
