y=mx+b
"1" is x, "5" is y, and "3" is m for the slope. Plug it in.
5=3(1)+b
5=3+b
b=2
The answer is y=3x+2

Answer:

The standard form of a line is:

3x-y=-2

Explanation:

We know that a standard form of a line is given by :

Ax+By=C

where A is a positive integer , B and C are integers.

It is given that:

The line passes through the point (1,5) and has a slope of 3.

We know that a equation of a line with passing through point (a,b) and slope m is given by:

y-b=m(x-a)

Here:

(a,b)=(1,5)\ and\ m=3

Hence, we have:

y-5=3(x-1)\\\\i.e.\\\\y-5=3x-3\\\\i.e.\\\\3x-y=3-5\\\\i.e.\\\\3x-y=-2
