Millie works 8 hours on Saturday and earns £6.50 an hour.

Her bus fare to work costs £2.75 and she also spends £4.25 on her lunch.

She allocates an equal amount of her remaining pay to the remaining six days of the week.

How much does she have to spend each day?


I worked it out and got 1.04 ,

First working out.

6.50 x 8 = 52

4.25 - 2.75= 1.50

I then subtract 150 and 52

150 - 52 = 98

98 + 6 = 1.04


I just want to know, if im doing the right working out.

Explanation:

Millie works 8 hours on Saturday and earns £6.50 an hour.

Total earnings =
6.50*8=52

Her bus fare to work costs £2.75 and she also spends £4.25 on her lunch.

Total remaining pay =
52-(2.75+4.25)=45

Millie allocates an equal amount of £45 to the remaining six days of the week.

This becomes =
45/6=7.5

So, Millie has £7.50 to spend each day.
