Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership and democratic control of the means of production, as well as the political theories, and movements associated with them whereas a pure command economy is a theoretical extreme on the spectrum of economic systems that does not actually exist in the real world. It does, however, provide a benchmark that can be used for comparison with real world economic systems.
