The key points of the treaty between the United States and Great Britain signed in 1783 ending the war of the American Revolution included:- The thirteen original colonies were now considered to be free and sovereign states and the British Crown relinquishes all rights and claims to the colonial territory. - The boundaries of the former colonies were established delineating the reach of British North America.- Fishing Rights where granted to the fisherman of the former colonies in the Grand Banks. - All lawful contracted debts were to be repaid to the creditors of each side. - The Congress of the United States would make recommendations to the state legislators to provide compensation and/or restitution to the Loyalist owners of properties confiscated during the war as well as prevent future confiscations.- The release of all Prisoners of war with all remaining property of the British army in the United States to be kept by the Congress. - Both the United States and Great Britain were to retain access to the Mississippi River in perpetuity.- The treaty is to be ratified within six months of the signing.
