Given: The right triangle shown

To Determine: The measure of x

Solution

In a right triangle, one of the three sides can be found if two are given using the Pythagoras theorem. The theorem states that the square of the hypothenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides

From the given triangle, the hypothenuse is 30, that is the side facing the right angle

Therefore

x^2+24^2=30^2
\begin{gathered} x^2+576=900 \\ x^2=900-576 \\ x^2=324 \\ x=√(324) \\ x=18 \end{gathered}

Hence, the value of x is 24 units
