England started the Navigation Acts in the mid-1600s to maintain a favorable trade understanding with the colonies for England’s advantage by implementing trading restrictions.
The colonies were an attractive source of trade and wealth and open trade could have reduced the opportunities for the British, to stop this Navigation acts were introduced in Parliament in 1651, 1660 and 1663.
