Why does raw meat need to be stored on the bottom shelf?

So if the meat spills open or anything inside the container holding the meat spills or runs out it won't get on any other food and contaminate it.

Hello! Raw meat is commonly stored on the bottom shelf because it drips. It also touches other food. When this happens, it can contaminate the other foods giving us what is known as "food poisoning" or another type of viral infection. Due to those reasons, raw meats should always remain on the bottom shelf!

I hope this helped!
