Cloe's is correct because when it says 'three times the sum' means that you are going to multiply at least two numbers all by 3. To write this, the most common way is to put the values that are all multiplied by 3 inside the parentheses. Which is what Cloe said.

Cole's answer is right because the times the sum of n squared and three  means that they want to multiply after they have added n squared and three.
