The second law of thermodynamics state that the entropy of the universe always increases.

The entropy is the measure of the disorderness of a system. The entropy can be described as a measure of the thermal energy that can not be utilized to do work.

Thus the second law of thermodynamics means that as the energy is transferred more and more energy is wasted.
