Vanessa makes cheese for fun and profit. She could sell her cheeses right away, but if she ages the cheeses, some increase in value and others decrease in value. For each of the following cheeses, write the function rule that gives the value of the cheese in terms of the number of weeks t since it started aging. Mozzarella costs $30 and decreases by 3.9f(t)= Gruyere costs $48 and increases by 4.7g(t)=

Given that t represents the number of weeks

Part a:

Mozzarella costs $30 and decreases by 3.9

In t weeks, the change in value will be 3.9t

Since the value decreases, we have minus 3.9t

Hence, the value becomes 30 - 3.9t in t weeks, therefore the answer is

f(t) = 30 - 3.9t

Part b:

Gruyere costs $48 and increases by 4.7

In t weeks, the change in value will be 4.7t

Since the value increases, we have plus 4.7t

Hence, the value becomes 48 + 4.7t in t weeks, therefore the answer is

g(t) = 48 + 4.7t
