The mood was a mixed of confusion, disappointment, and anger. Lizabeth was confused about what is happening around her. She was confused why her father had cried. She was confused and angry that Mrs. Lottie uses to have a pretty garden before poverty had hit their town. By the end of the story, Lizabeth had grown up and was shaped by her experience.
