Explain how the practice of indentured servitude failed to solve the colonial labor problem and why colonists then turned to african slavery.

Indentured servants were known to rebel at times, which caused an inconvenience for those whom they were serving. Also, servants were able to become free after the length of time in their contracts, so they would need to be replaced with another person at the end of that time frame. Slaves did not have that issue: they were chattel for as long as the owner wanted them.
