y = 2x + 7 .

a) Find an equation passing through the points (-4,7)
b) This equation should be // to y = 2x + 7

a) This new equation of the form y = mx + b, where m is the slope. Since this equation should be // to y = 2x+7, that means they have the SAME SLOPE or m = 2. Hence this new equation becomes:
y =2x + b. To calculate b, plugin the respective values of (-4,7) [x=-4 and y=7]

7 = 2(-4) + b → 7 = -8 + b or b = 7+8 and b = 15. Hence the new equation is:

y = 2x +15

y = 2x + 7.....the slope here is 2. A parallel line will have the same slope.

y = mx + b
slope(m) = 2
(-4,7)....x = -4 and y = 7
now we sub and find b, the y int
7 = 2(-4) + b
7 = -8 + b
7 + 8 = b
15 = b

so ur parallel equation is : y = 2x + 15 <==
