Would it be easier if you looked at it like this:

(10)/(2) * ( x^(2) )/(x) * ( y^(5) )/( y^(8) )

In division exponents subtract:

(10)/(2) * ( x^(2) )/(x) * ( y^(5) )/( y^(8) ) = 5 * x * (1)/( y^(3) )

5 * x * (1)/( y^(3) ) = (5x)/( y^(3) )

5xy^5 because 10/2=5 then remove the y^8 then collect like terms which leaves u with 5xy^5
