- 9y + 6x = 7 (a)
+9y - 8x = 9 (b)
Add a) + b)
- 9y + 6x = 7 (a)
+9y - 8x = 9 (b)
----------- -------
0y - 2x = 16
Solve for x:
-2x = 16
2x = -16
x = - 8.
Now replace x = 8 in either a) or b) and you will find y = -55/9
