Area =72 sq. cm

length = x+6

Width = x

l×b = Area
(x+6)x =72
x2 +6x=72
x2+6x-72=0
x2+12x-6x-72=0
x (x+12) -6 (x+12)=0
(x+12) ( x-6) =0
x=-12, x=6

since width can't be negative , the answer is x=6.

therefore, the width is 6cm
