Let the age of Elga be x.

Age of Alvin = x + 6

Sum of ages = 106

x + x + 6 = 106

2x + 6 = 106

2x = 106 - 6

2x = 100

x =
(100)/(2)

x = 50

Hence, Elga is 50 years old.
