The aspect of Darwinism, that applies that small variations in the genes of a creature are passed on through natural selection, if it increases the probability of: competition, survival, and reproduction.

"Gradual evolution" theory
would be your answer
this means that those traits that are useful would be passed down, and non-useful traits would die out
