There are five layers of the atmosphere. These include the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere. A further region at about 500 km above the Earth's surface is called the exosphere. These layers are largely distinguished based on temperature. The troposphere is the lowest part of the atmosphere and contains about 75% of all of the air and water vapor in the atmosphere/
