For your first answer 2=x+5/17 your second answer is 29. This is because "x" is the number that you need to bake which is 29. Therefore, 31/17=2

Answer:

Additional muffins required, x = 29

The equation so that the units on each side of the equation are muffins per student

(5+x)/(17)=2

Explanation:

Let the additional number x of muffins you need to bake in order to have 2 muffins for each student.

We have total number of students = 17

Number of muffins already baked = 5

So total number of muffins made = Number of muffins already baked + Additional muffins to be made

Total number of muffins made = 5 + x

We know that each student need to get 2 muffins

Total muffins needed = 17 x 2

Equating both

5 + x = 17 x 2

x = 34 - 5 = 29

Additional muffins required, x = 29

(5+x)/(17)=2

This is the equation so that the units on each side of the equation are muffins per student
