A. Theme

The theme of a narrative is the author's main idea or message. In the theme the author is stating some truth about life and uses the narrative to show how this truth is developed. A common theme in young adult literature is the need to feel a sense of belonging while still maintaining some individuality. This is a truth about people. A conflict in a narrative is the problem for the protagonist. The resolution is the end of the narrative where the conflict is resolved.
