Let's start with number 2. To do this you have to transfer it into an equation. Know that in this type of situation, you can turn the word "is" into an equals sign. Next, break it up. 7 times the sum of a number and six. That is the first part. First, find an expression for both. 7 is just 7. And now, a number and 6. You can always substitute "a number" with x. So a number and 6 would be x+6. 7 times the sum of a number and 6 would be... 7*(x+6). Now lets get to the other side of the equation. This is easy. "negative 43" would be -43. So the final equation would be. 7(x+6)=-43
