assumin we solving for the intersection or solution

elimination, ya

eliminate y's

multiply firs equation by 2 and add to 2nd

we get
6x+2y=16
-x-2y=-10 +
5x+0y=6

5x=6
divide both sides by 5
x=6/5

sub back
-x-2y=-10
-6/5-2y=-10
times both sides by 5
-6-10y=-50
add 6 to both sides
-10y=-44
divide both sides by -10
y=44/10
y=22/5

(x,y)

((6)/(5),(22)/(5))
or
(1.2,4.4)
