The correct answer would be B) $70+(-$9)+(-$7) because a negative plus a positive cancels out to make a negative, so even though there is a plus and a minus sign it really only means minus. Therefore, you solve it just like a simple math problem $70-$9-$7. In the end Betty ends up with $54 in total having spend $16.
