x = bat, y = ball

x + y = 1.10
x = y + 1

y + 1 + y = 1.10
2y + 1 = 1.10
2y = 1.10 - 1
2y = 0.10
y = 0.10/2
y = 0.05 <=== the ball

x = y + 1
x = 0.05 + 1
x = 1.05 <== the bat
