There are two types of cognitive theory: Social Cognitive Theory and Cognitive Behavioural Theory, which are developed from traditional concepts of thought and thinking. I would say, the viability of a cognitive theory is inversely related to the research of the theory. As the cognitive theory is related to thought, careful observation and test research must be conducted to have a basis for the theoretical results, perceptions of memory, problem-solving, attention and creativity, for example, are observed to determine how mental processes affect human behaviour.
